Understanding Tension Load Cells

So…What Exactly DO Load Cells Do?

Load cells come in a great variety of shapes and sizes and all have their own specific purposes, most of which are for industrial applications. Load cells come in several different varieties, pneumatic, hydraulic and strain gages all have their own uses. A load cell, in itself, is a transducer that is used to measure the amount of a specific tension or compression force applied to it. As the force or tension affects the transducer, the pressure is converted to an electronic signal, which is then translated into a usable bit of data. For industrial applications, this information is vital when it comes to stress testing and quality compliance.
