Title/Position: Calibration Specialist

Number of years with current company: 10

What do you do in your position?  Calibrate Electrical and Electronic Test equipment. Including but not limited to Oscilloscopes, Multimeters, RF Equipment, Temperature Probes, and a wide variety of hand tools.

What interested you originally to do the work that you do?  I learned about calibration when I was in the Navy. It was 100% transferrable to the civilian life with great job security and very challenging and rewarding.

What is your favorite part of the work you do?  Making my customers happy. The satisfaction I get when a customer has an issue and I am able to correct it. There are very few things that compare to it.

What is your favorite experience you had with a client or your favorite achievement is servicing a client?  I had a customer whose product line was down and they could not figure out the problem. They called me in, I ran through the issues they were having and we were able to get them up and running again in about two hours. Not only did we fix the issue that was causing the problem. We were able to identify other potential issues and correct them before they became a problem.

What are your favorite things to do when you’re not working?  I love fishing and hiking. I am an outdoorsman and that is where I like to be. Nature is very calming and good for the soul.

What is your favorite childhood memory?  Playing Little League Baseball. I loved it. I lived for it. I loved being the one at the bat w/ two outs and only a man on base.

What is your favorite food?   I am a PIZZA guy. I love all kinds of PIZZA. I have been around the world twice and have eaten Pizza in every state and country I visited.

What is your favorite beverage?   BEER. I really like a good IPA. Flower Power IPA from Ithaca NY is absolutely my favorite.

What are your 3 favorite movies?   I love a good horror movie. Halloween 1 and 2 and the Rob Zombie remakes. I know that is four, I’m only counting it as two. The Unforgiven w/ Clint Eastwood is absolutely my favorite movie of all time.

What are your 3 favorite bands?   Pat Benatar, Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, and Pink Floyd. I recently saw Pat for the first time. I waited for 37 years to see her in concert and it was worth the wait.

What was your first concert?   The Hooters opened for Loverboy in 1986 at The Igloo in Pittsburgh. The Hooters were great. I was told I had a great time during Loverboy.

What are your 3 favorite restaurants?   The Appalachian Brewing Company has great beer and burgers. I love Five Guys for a quick burger, Red Lobster is where I go to for shrimp fest.

Have you ever wanted to throw a calibration weight through a wall?   I can honestly say no to that question. Mainly because I don’t calibrate many scales. My position is quite different and with frustrations of its own.
